17LIVE to launch new cross-border live commerce service “HandsUP Crossborder” to support cross-border businesses across East and Southeast Asia
Actively supports businesses’ commercial strategies in East and Southeast Asia at low cost and with low-risk
Tokyo, 6th August 2024 – 17LIVE Japan Inc. operates Japan’s largest live streaming app “17LIVE,” will launch a new cross-border live commerce service called “HandsUP Crossborder” on August 19, 2024. This service will primarily target the East Asia region, including Taiwan, and will enable businesses (“Clients”) to match with sales experts and influencers who have significant influence in the region (“KOLs”).
“HandsUP Crossborder” is a service that enables Clients who wish to introduce Japanese products to Taiwanese viewers to match with over 1,300 KOLs across East and Southeast Asia, who are exclusively contracted with our company. Clients will register their product information on the platform, and KOLs who are interested in the product will then apply through
“HandsUp Crossborder. Thereafter, 17LIVE Japan Inc, which holds sales data of the KOLs, will carefully select the KOLs from among the applicants that match the Client’s requests and products, whom then will promote and sell the products with the support from 17LIVE Japan Inc.
Prior to this initiative, selling products to overseas users has faced significant hurdles, including shipping costs, execution costs, resource issues such as handling overseas shipping, language and local law compliance, and lack of overseas promotion know-how, making entry into cross-border commerce significantly challenging. This service offers support from a dedicated consulting team, and KOLs who will handle individual packaging, storage, and delivery of the products. Dedicated staff from 17LIVE Japan Inc will also manage the complex process of communicating with the KOLs, allowing most of the commerce process to be carried out at a low cost and without additional challenges. Furthermore, given that the matching with KOLs is conducted through a rigorous screening process by our company, it is possible to ensure high engagement live broadcasts so as to create sales via the most suitable KOL for the Client’s product.
The KOLs contracted with 17LIVE Japan Inc. boast average sales of 1,800,000 yen, with the top 100 KOLs averaging 30 million yen in monthly merchandise sales, and an annual total sales of over 50 billion yen in live commerce. Additionally, the total number of followers of the KOLs exceeds 16 million, and the campaign acceptance rate is over 80%, providing robust support for clients looking to expand their sales channels abroad.
Since 2019, 17LIVE Japan Inc has been enabling the live commerce business through “HandsUP,” providing live commerce services and consulting to over 400 companies and brands. We have received numerous requests from clients to leverage our accumulated live commerce expertise for cross- border live commerce. In late October 2023, we held our first cross-border live commerce event by inviting Taiwanese KOLs, of when an apparel company with over 90 stores nationwide has recorded sales exceeding the total daily sales of all its stores in aggregate.
Comment from Hiromi Murai, Head of Live Commerce Business, 17LIVE
Global e-commerce market continues to expand year on year, and e-commerce activity has become regular in Taiwan, leading to remarkable growth in the Taiwanese e-commerce market and the existence of a vast social commerce market. Under this backdrop, we are launching “HandsUP Crossborder” to support Clients who wish to expand their sales channels overseas. By matching clients with suitable KOLs and delivering high-engagement broadcasts that understand the products deeply, we are confident that we can offer new sales channels at low cost and low risk to clients who have previously abandoned cross-border strategies due to costs and resource constraints. Ultimately, we aim to solve growth and marketing challenges in the e-commerce industry through live commerce. In the future, we plan to expand not only to Taiwan but also to other countries and regions, focusing on Southeast Asia, including Singapore. Please look forward to the new service “HandsUP Crossborder.”
